WHEW - butt kicked!!

This was me today - SPENT SPEECHLESS and DIZZY!!!  I still don't feel quite right so thank goodness I filmed the vlog BEFORE I worked out.

To summarize my vlog today, I reflected back on my results from January and how I felt about my weekend and realized it was time to self correct a bit and start planning more.  From meals to social activities - winging it just leaves me without abs ;)  AND I need abs because all the talk of the 2 feet of snow we are suppose to get in Chicago had me cash in ALL of my American Airlines miles and we are heading south!!  Yep girls - 52 days until I need to be in a swimsuit!  So I kicked off this morning showing you my favorite juice for the morning in my fancy new Christmas present.

In retrospect though, I don't think that is enough even with protein for me to kick my butt like I did today.  I literally lost it.  (which on one hand I did think was cool b/c I felt bada$$ lol).  I was in the second to last set in kettle bells and started seeing spots and to the floor I went.  So I think I am going to have to balance (yes we are back to that word) my desire to eat clean with what my body needs to get through some workouts.  I have been a bottomless pit since this morning.   I have been snacking mostly on fruit and veggies but the tape worm has yet to be satisfied ;)  I know you girls have been here cuz you don't get arms like some of my tribe without kicking your butt!!  So please share.  Is there something you eat or drink right before the workout that fuels it but doesn't leave you burping it up for an hour??  Do tell.

In other news, here is my morning on vlog and excuse that I had yet to do my dishes from last night LOL!

An hour and a half before I work out I drink a shake made with...8oz of water, one scoop of protein powder, one scoop of wheatgrass and a dropper full of chlorophyll concentrate. I have tried so many things and this MAKES ME FEEL AMAZING during my workouts. The timing is key as well. It has to be an hour and a half...too soon and i want to throw it up, but if I don't have anything I want to throw up too. Got to find what works for you! :)

If i could be bothered washing up i would definitely make myself a daily juice!

As for pre-workout fuel, i actually train best on a semi empty tummy. My breakie is just a fibre shake and a coffee, then i hit the gym about an hour later. But i do also make up my post-workout smoothie/morning tea (frozen banana, scoop vanilla protein, 100ml rice milk, 150ml water, cinnamon, 1 tsp flaxmeal, ice) at breakfast time and will have a few sips of that before i drink my coffee. I find the smoothie is great post/workout as it digests fast (i don't usually want to eat anything heavy after a big workout), tastes yummy and keeps me full and sustained until lunch time.

If i'm training in the arvo i'll usually have some fruit (apples/watermelon), raw nuts, coffee... and i usually give into the PB! Depending on how many spoonfuls i have will determine have queezy my stomach feels half way through my boxing session! ;-)

I have been doing well eating a Mrs. May's Trio Bar and a T of PB before my workouts. I find the volume pre-workout shakes take up in my stomach - notwithstanding their easy assimilation - makes me easily nauseated. High calorie - low volume - seems to work best for me.

Great ideas! I am trying a different mixture each week and going to document the workout and how I feel to tweak what is right. I need the energy but not the belly ache!!

For a run of 5 miles or more or a really rough weight workout I like to have a cliff bar about 1.5 hr before hand. Otherwise I just have a banana and a spoon of pb.
Sometimes you just have a rough time anyway though. I really wish there was a method that worked perfect every time. I get dizzy if I've been eating super clean and push really hard no matter what I do.
