Yep this has been me for the past 2 days - LIVING in compression pants because I felt like "Moose and Rock-o" came and hit me with a baseball bat in the knees. WHEW WARNING: not running for 4 weeks can be hazardous to the joints! I LOVE compression pants. Almost wanting another pair so I can run in one and still wear a pair after *insert my husband's intervention of my exercise shopping* :D
Today I knew I needed to move because I was sore but I just didn't know what I could do so I walked. I had lunch scheduled with a friend that I had not seen in 6 months and instead of catching up over food we walked, walked and walked some more. We got in almost 8 miles of walking and lots of catching up and my legs felt so much better. I am hoping that after 1 more day of babying my knees I will no longer feel like I am 80.
So I am less than 4 weeks from my next half marathon and based on my time I had for the 15k this weekend, I am guessing I will come in something just over 2 1/2 hours. I am going to do a 8 mile this weekend and see how I pace but I notice I am starting off at a 10 min/mile pace and ending at a 12 min/pace and it's an average I can live with.
Oh I forgot to mention on the vlog - check out my new necklace I got for my birthday from a friend. I think I am itching closer to being an "official runner" :D

Glad you are finally recovering...sounded damn painful. I'm sure you learned your lesson..hehehe

Nice pair of pins (legs!) Miss Amy, and thanks for the birthday wishes! xo ... All this road racing in blogland is making me want to enter a race too. Perhaps a 10km next year! Guess what? I just got a pair of Vibram barefoot running shoes. Have you tried them on? They feel weird but in a good way! ;-)
I can relate to almost all of your post. Phew, my knees are all kinds of achy after my half marathon on Saturday. It's strange to me that they're taking so long to recover. I'm training for a full marathon in January and have run 18 miles on a training run without so much recovery time afterwards. It's probably because I ran it faster than I do on training runs. 1:54:10!!! So exciting for my first half. Walking afterwards seems to do a world of good. I do my long runs on Saturday and always make sure to get atleast two 30 minute walks in on Sunday.
You know those people who say all you need to run is a pair of shoes? Lies! Lies I tell ya. My list of "needs" just keeps growing. At this point I have a few pairs of compression pants and that's exactly what I do with them, wear one for running and the other for recovery.
Congratulations on your run this weekend and good luck throughout the rest of your training!
Raechelle - Yes I would wear that dress if I could turn back the time ;) And of course I need to plan Australia! I continue to put places on the list that need visiting during Chicago's winter!!
Chelle - Racing is the main reason I am even running. Love the rush! I tried Newton's and screwed up my hip so I would need to go VERY slow with Vibrams. I am thinking of using them first to do legs. I heard it's great to run on a bosu ball with them to build ankle strength.
Sharon - AWESOME time. I should be training with you :D That is my goal time in 2012! Please visit more often and continue to tell me it is ok to need all these random exercise clothes. I am going to do a blog one day and show you my obsession. haha! But I must say compression is my friend. What brand do you use?
Hey Amy,
lovely video....looking good...any chance to get a flex from you? ;))
Cheers
Flo
Both of my compression pants are Nike but there's no real reason behind that, I just liked the way they looked. There are some gorgeous Underarmor (I think) pants that I saw in the store the other day that are black and teal but I resisted the temptation. I suppose I don't need 3 pairs of compression pants ;)
Who said 3 pairs of the same item is bad ;) haha!
